Campaign: Cheetah Mobile Drums Up Downloads with Social Video Campaign

We’ve been working with Cheetah Mobile, the world’s leading mobile security and utility app developer, to promote their first pan-European marketing campaign.

The drummer for boogie rock band Status Quo stars in a social video campaign for Cheetah Mobile’s first European campaign, as the brand prepares for a rollout of a suite of new products, including its market-leading Clean Master app. Clean Master is a free Android app with over 660 million worldwide downloads and an average score of 4.7 on the Google Play Store.

It improves smartphone performance and security with its junk file cleaner, memory booster, antivirus protection, battery saver, app manager, and auto start manager.

“Drum Dogs” is the first of a series of videos, created by Cheetah Mobile’s in-house production team in Taipei, you can view the full video here.

In it we see Quo drummer, Leon Cave, introduce himself to camera prior to feeding three dogs by sitting at his drum kit and hammering out ‘The Doggy Shuffle’ by Leon Cave.  At intervals the beat causes a treat to ricochet off the drum skins high into to air, prompting the pets to leap and snap up the food.  For the finale, the dogs dance a synchronised 360-degree turn and say “Bye” to the camera.

The 50-second spot signs off with the message “best pal for your phone!” – a reference to the Clean Master app’s award-winning ability to protect and optimise Android mobiles.
